Optical cable connector box is a kind of handover equipment that provides optical fiber cable ends and jumpers for the backbone layer optical cable and the distribution layer optical cable. After the optical fiber cable is introduced into the optical fiber connector box, after being fixed, terminated, and fiber-distributed, a fiber jumper is used to connect the backbone optical cable and the distribution optical fiber cable.

The fiber optic connector boxes is a connection device installed outdoors. The most fundamental requirement for it is that it can withstand the drastic climate and harsh working environment. It must have the characteristics of waterproof gas condensation, waterproof and distproof, insect and rat damage, and strong resistance to impact damage. It must be able to withstand relatively harsh external environments. Therefore, the outer side of the cabinet has higher requirements for waterproof, moisture-proof, dust-proof, anti-impact damage, and insect and rat damage prevention; the inner side has very high requirements for temperature and humidity control. According to international standards, the highest standard for these projects is IP66. But there are not many cases that can reach this standard.

The capacity of an optical cable connector box refers to the maximum number of fiber cores that the optical fiber connector box can form. The size of the capacity is directly proportional to the volume of the cabinet, the overall cost, and the difficulty of construction and maintenance, so it should not be too large. In actual design and engineering, people seem to only ask for the capacity of optical fiber connector boxes. The larger the capacity, the better. However, the possible consequences are the volume of the box increases and the price of the equipment increases. In fact, the capacity of the transfer boxes we often refer to be its fiber distribution capacity, which is the sum of the fiber distribution capacity of the backbone fiber and the fiber distribution capacity of the branch cable.

The capacity of the optical fiber connector box should actually include three parts: the trunk optical cable straight-through capacity, the trunk optical fiber distribution capacity, and the branch optical cable distribution capacity.
